Founded in 1986, the event is built on ten core principles, including self-reliance, inclusion, gifting, and participation. Every year, thousands of people, known as "Burners," create spectacular installations, performances, and monumental sculptures, culminating in the traditional burning of a giant wooden effigy, the "Man."
But Burning Man is more than just a festival, it's an extreme experience that defies every convention, a journey into an alternate reality where art, excess, and absolute freedom redefine the concept of community.
Here, amidst nonstop music, visionary installations, and boundary-pushing performances, individual expression knows no limits. Nudity is embraced as an act of liberation, free from taboos and judgment, while barter and gifting replace money. It’s a total immersion into a world without imposed rules, at least until the fire erases every trace, leaving behind only the desert dust.
